Spaghetti comes from southern Italy, where pasta making was most common, specifically Naples, Genoa and Liguria. Spaghetti is typically a long rod pasta type and has a 0.075"- 0.078" diameter.Historically the first official evidence of the word "spaghetto" goes back to 1819 in the Italian dictionary by Nicolò Tommaseo and Bernardo Bellini, which defines spaghetto as "singular masculin, diminutive of spago (thread)". They are very tasty sautéed with garlic and oil and are also excellent paired with cold or warm tomato, vegetable or herb -based sauces. Excellent also combined with shellfish and sea food based sauces, as well as with "white" sauces made with soft or cheeses and spiced with curry, saffron, radish and ginger.
